Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

So it’s finally St. Patrick’s Day, which means almost everyone will be heading out to their favorite local pub tonight or today if you were smart enough to take today off!  You’ll more than likely be drinking Irish Car Bombs, Guiness, Black & Tans, and I’m sure more than a few green beers.  In the spirit of St. Paddy’s Day we have decided to give the recipes for a few of the Irish drinks that you will be drinking today.

Green Beer

Grab a pint glass and pour in one drop of green food coloring.  Then add 12 – 16oz of your favorite beer.  The lighter the beer the greener it will turn out.  Yep, that’s the entire recipe, here you thought bars were going to extraordinary measures to get their beer green for St. Patrick’s Day.  Nope, it’s just food coloring, so it turns out they are just as lazy as the rest of us!

Black & Tan

Now to stick with the beer theme we will go with the Black & Tan, which happens to be one of my favorites.  For this take a pint glass and fill it half full with an ale, typically made with Bass Ale.  Next hold a spoon face down over the glass and pour in the Guiness.  If you did it right the Guinness should stay on top and the Bass Ale will be on the bottom.  If you do it wrong, don’t worry it still tastes delicious, plus it means you’ll just have to try it again!  With Black & Tans, practice makes perfect!  Or maybe it’s practice makes buzzed, either way keep practicing!

Irish Car Bomb

So after a few beers you’ll probably want to do a drop shot and none is better on St. Paddy’s day than the Irish Car Bomb!  For this drink fill your pint glass 3/4 full with Guinness.  Next fill your shot glass half way with Bailey’s Irish Cream and the other half with Jameson Irish Whiskey.  Now we get to the best part, drop the shot of Bailey’s and Jameson into the glass of Guinness and chug! Be sure to drink it fast because if you wait too long it will begin to curdle and trust me it does not taste good once it’s curdled!
